Established by Barbara Tropp and seven pioneering women chefs and restaurateurs in 1993, WCR is an active resource for women seeking to advance culinary education and gain recognition in various areas of the food and beverage industry. Through invaluable experiences and opportunities, WCR helps leverage the voice of talented women, helping to elevate their position while building a strong connection of industry peers. The organization has awarded more than 400 scholarships since its inception.
ICE is pleased to offer two scholarships for the 2016/2017 academic year:
• $2,000 towards the Diploma in Restaurant & Culinary Management
• $5,000 towards the Career Pastry & Baking Arts Program
The award will be applied as a tuition waiver towards the total tuition towards the program. Scholarship winners must begin the program within one year of accepting the scholarship award.
The deadline to apply for these scholarships is September 14, 2016.
Applicants must be current WCR members and be awarded the scholarship prior to beginning classes at ICE. Applicants must submit a completed scholarship application and submit a one-page typed essay about their foodservice career, culinary interests, professional inspiration, and how the scholarship will contribute to their career. They must also demonstrate a passion for the industry, a commitment to the community, and a high degree of professionalism through work experience, volunteerism and/or academic pursuits (resume required).
