Lyon Porter exploded onto the hospitality scene with his first project, Urban Cowboy in Brooklyn. When it opened in 2014, the rock-and-roll bed and breakfast landed in nearly every glossy publication that covers travel and design and developed an almost cult-like following.

Lyon personally designs all of his hotels and is passionate about creating unique environments for experiential travelers. He specializes in designing communal spaces that feel less like hotels and more like homes away from home.

For his second act, Lyon packed up his 1989 Jeep Wagoneer and vintage Airstream and headed to Nashville to make his mark. Set in a luxurious Victorian Mansion from the 1890s, Urban Cowboy Nashville has become the preeminent destination for the creative class visiting Music City. With a style that Porter calls "Southwestern Deco” and The Public House Bar and Kitchen out back, Urban Cowboy Nashville is redefining the experience of what a boutique hotel can be for a new generation of travelers.

In his spare time Lyon loves to play with his 6-year-old son and travel, searching for the right location for his next project. He’ll speak to students about hospitality design and management.
