Elite Chef Demo: Ben Murphy
Head Chef, Launceston Place
Ben Murphy is the head chef at Launceston Place in London’s Kensington district, where he’s earned three Rosettes in the AA Restaurant Guide for his seasonally driven, modern European fare. He’ll prepare a signature rice pudding, passionfruit and white chocolate souffle.
Ben studied at Westminster Kingsway College and launched his career as a commis and then sous chef at Koffmann’s at The Berkeley in Knightsbridge, where Pierre Koffman became his mentor. Ben trained in France at Michel Guérard’s three-Michelin-starred Les Prés d’Eugénie and three-Michelin-starred Épicure at Le Bristol in Paris. In 2015, he returned to London as the sous chef at two-Michelin-starred The Greenhouse, before becoming the head chef at The Woodford in East London.
In 2016, The Good Food Guide named Ben the Chef to Watch, and the Food & Travel Awards called him the Breakthrough Chef of the Year, and in 2017, he joined the restaurant group D&D London, which has more than 40 restaurants in London, Paris and New York, including Launceston Place.
