Restaurant Public Relations: An Asset – or Not?

A Rare Class with Florence Fabricant of The New York Times

In this exclusive class, Florence Fabricant will share her perspective and experience working with public relations firms as they represent restaurants and chefs. Discussion topics will include: 

  • the changing nature of this once symbiotic bond
  • social media’s impact on restaurant marketing and public relations
  • the industry’s increasing use of AI
  • how restaurant owners and PR firms can work more effectively with the media

A Q&A session with class attendees and a short reception will follow Fabricant’s prepared talk. 

About Florence Fabricant:

Florence Fabricant is one of America’s most prominent and long-standing restaurant journalists, and a respected authority on food trends. For more than 50 years, she has been a food and wine writer for the New York Times. Florence contributes the weekly Off the Menu column and wrote a weekly column, Front Burner for decades. She frequently writes features that appear in the Food section and also covers food and travel and articles about news in the restaurant industry. Fabricant has written 13 cookbooks and is working on a memoir, “Salty, Not Sweet: A Life in the Food World” to be published in October.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Smith College, she also earned an M.A. in French from New York University. She holds L’Ordre National du Mérite and from the French government, is on the Board of Trustees of Guild Hall in East Hampton, N.Y., and is a member of Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America.
