Upcoming Classes: July 2010
Looking for a fun and interesting culinary class? ICE offers more than 1,700 recreational classes each year. Here is a round-up of some of the classes happening this month:
July 7 These tasty, make-ahead alternatives to the traditional beef burger are perfect for a quick and easy weeknight dinner, whether you grill them outside regardless of the weather or use a pan on the stove. Join culinary educator Vicki J. Caparulo to prepare Asian-Style Tuna Burgers with Ginger Sesame Dressing; Lamb Patties with Tzatziki and Roasted Eggplant Salad; Spicy Southwest Cheeseburgers with Guacamole; Italian Sausage-Style Pork Burgers; Stuffed Veal Burgers with Saga Blue Cheese Butter and Fried Sage Leaves; and Tarragon Shrimp Burgers with Béarnaise Sauce.
July 10 Lollipops are both a great gift for friends of any age (and yourself of course!) and a perfect party treat. In this fun class, Pastry Chef Instructor Kathryn Gordon will lead you through the creation of a variety of colorful and delicious lollipops. She will cover basic sugar cooking skills, as well as how to flavor and pull ribbon candy. You will share and take home a variety of lollipops created with different sugar-related skills.
Signature Dishes from Barcelona Restaurant
July 30 Barcelona Restaurant and Wine Bars are not located in Spain, even though they make you feel as if you were there, leisurely dining after a day filled with sunshine and museums. Rather, their six locations have allowed residents of Connecticut to enjoy tantalizing tapas and seductive Spanish wines. In this class, owners Sasa Mahr-Batuz and Andy Pforzheimer will take you through the making of signature dishes from their restaurant, with recipes that are also part of "The Barcelona Cookbook."
