Dine Out Irene: A Tomato Lovers’ Workshop

Restaurants all over New York City are pulling together to help farmers devastated by Hurricane Irene and the subsequent flooding.

Dine Out Irene is a one-time, city-wide event on September 25, benefiting New York-area farms that have been hard hit by the hurricane. ICE is teaming up to offer a special benefit cooking class.

Help support our local farmers by attending ICE’s special Dine Out Irene: A Tomato Lovers’ Workshop! Dine Out Irene: A Tomato Lovers’ Workshop will be September 25 at 6pm-10:30pm and costs $110. ICE will donate 75% of the proceeds to help benefit local farmers, with funds going to GrowNYC and Just Food, which will distribute the funds to devastated farms. The class will seize the best produce of the season and celebrate all the hard work our farmers do. By late summer, tomatoes have accumulated hundreds of hours of sunlight on the vine and are ready to offer their juicy deliciousness to our plates. Perfectly ripe tomatoes need little done to them, but having a large repertoire of recipes that enhance their natural flavor will only extend the pleasure you'll derive from the bounty available this time of year.
