Roasted Orange Negroni Sbagliato

An Update on the Iconic Italian Cocktail

Tim Wright

If you've been imbibing your way through Negroni Week — a collective effort by bars across the globe to raise money for charitable causes, not to mention a celebration of one of our favorite summer cocktails  — then cheers to you!

Though Negroni Week ends on June 10th, the official season of the Negroni is just firing up. So we asked cocktail guru Joe Campanale, owner/director of Fausto in Brooklyn, to share with us his take on the classic Negroni.

Roasted Orange Negroni Sbagliato

Makes 1 serving

  • 1 wedge roasted orange
  • 1 ounce sweet red vermouth
  • 1 1/4 ounces Campari
  • 1 1/4 ounces Lini Lambrusco Bianco, or other sparkling white wine Orange peel for garnish

  • Place the orange in a mixing glass and add vermouth.
  • Muddle the two so that the charred bits are released into the vermouth.
  • Add Campari and ice, and stir.
  • Strain into a chilled rocks glass that is filled with ice and top with sparkling wine. Do not stir as this will dissipate the bubbles.
  • Garnish with orange peel.
