While Fridays are traditionally date night, there are times in life that call for spending an evening with girlfriends.
Whether going out to dinner or staying in to watch a movie, there’s no better cure for life’s knocks than spending some quality time with friends. Last Friday, one ICErecreational class offered just that opportunity. ICE Chef Instructor (and alum) Tia Cannon put together a menu for hosting a girls’ night in, rather than out. The students in class celebrated a huge range of female relationships. From moms and daughters to lifelong friends, it was a chance for everyone to come together over some great food. On the menu was a selection of small appetizers perfect for snacking on during a party with one's closest friends — curried chicken salad, beef satays, beet and goat cheese napoleons (garnished with some feminine flowers). Plus two delicious cocktails made with sparkling wine.
The evening also included a specially crafted playlist of songs selected just for a night in with the girls. Chef Tia included hits from Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton and Madonna — strong, independent ladies, though I’m pretty sure even they need some help from their friends every once in a while.
