Culinary Careers Book Launch Party

Last night, ICE President Rick Smilow celebrated the launch of his new book, Culinary Careers at ICE with all the food, drink and laughs expected of a culinary industry celebration.

Culinary Careers hit bookstores on May 4 and is now officially in motion, as set off with last night’s dedication. The book details the plethora of options available and is packed with 89 interviews of top culinary professionals working in the wide range of positions available in the food world. It was a memorable evening with several of those profiled in attendance.

Among them were ICE Chef Instructor James Briscione, food stylist Jeannie Chen, kitchen designer James Feustel, cookbook author Susan Spungen and wine coach Laurie Forster. They mingled with the many guests, talking about their interesting and unique food jobs. Co-author Anne E. McBride said, “It was a pleasure to spend every day talking to people who love their jobs and displayed a passion for food. We are proud of the book and hope to inspire many culinary careers.”

Early on, the book is being touted as a must-have for anyone looking to break into the food world. “If you suspect you might have the itch to make a mark anywhere in the hospitality industry, this is your book. It's chockfull of genuine insights, accurate information, and thoughtful advice from real people who have already walked in your shoes — or the ones you've been contemplating trying on,” said renowned restaurateur Danny Meyer.
