Meet the Culinary Entrepreneurs Danny DaouBorn in Lebanon and raised in Southern France, Daniel Daou is no stranger to Bordeaux’s fine wines, which is where his deep passion for Cabernet Sauvignon is rooted. His childhood dream was to one day start a family-owned and operated winery that would produce an Estate Cabernet that would rival the best in the world.

When first searching for a location to begin this dream, Daniel fell in love with Paso Robles’ terroir and climate, particularly in the Adelaida AVA. After learning that part of the original Hoffman Mountain Ranch, once farmed by Dr. Stanley Hoffman who worked along-side the world-renowned enologist Andre Tchelistcheff, was part of this AVA and available it was without question the new birthplace of DAOU Vineyards & Winery, established in 2007. Later in 2013, the remaining HMR property was purchased completing the total trifecta for DAOU: climate, soil and family.

Recently, DAOU Vineyards & Winery has been named The Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wine’s 2013 "Winery of the Year". Additionally, the original Hoffman Mountain Ranch winery has been fully restored and is set to open it’s doors to the public in 2014.
