9/29 - An Afternoon with Alex Guarnaschelli

September 29, 2015 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM
Institute of Culinary Education

Chef Alex Guarnaschelli is the daughter of cookbook editor Maria Guarnaschelli, and learned to cook at a young age by testing recipes in the kitchen with her mother. After graduating from college, Alex worked under acclaimed American chef and restaurateur Larry Forgione. She then studied at La Varenne Culinary School in Burgundy before starting a four-year stint at Michelin three-star restaurant Guy Savoy. After seven years in France, she returned to New York to work at restaurant Daniel, where she quickly rose to sous chef. In 2003, Alex became the executive chef at Butter Restaurant, where she would create her own American and greenmarket-inspired menu. Now a television staple, Alex is the host of "Alex’s Day Off," a regular on "The Best Thing I Ever Ate," a judge on "Chopped," and the winner of "The Next Iron Chef," all on Food Network. A former chef-instructor at ICE, Chef Guarnaschelli now sits on ICE’s Professional Advisory Council. Chef Guarnaschelli will bring some of her chefs to discuss the culinary industry and food television, as well as serve tastes from Butter Restaurant. Do not miss this opportunity to meet one of America’s biggest celebrity chefs! Free for current career students and alumni; general public, $40.
