Senior Content Manager

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Marketing & Communications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is seeking a hands-on Senior Content Manager/Director of Content to lead the creation of assets for the ICE blog, ICE websites, ICE YouTube, email and printed materials. As a key member of the marketing team, you will work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to develop editorial and promotional content. Your work will attract, engage and nurture relationships with ICE’s broad audience in the food world, including active students, prospective students, alumni and industry professionals and VIPs.

We’re looking for someone who has experience managing a robust website, planning a content calendar, establishing/meeting deadlines, managing a pool of freelance writers and is proficient at using content management systems and project management tools. You must be self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented and take pride in your work. 

Our ideal candidate is actively immersed in the culinary world and has a constant eye on news and trends in the world of chefs and restaurants. A proven track record of success in food writing, editing and content marketing is required. Experience producing video content is a strong plus.

This role is a key member of our marketing team and reports directly to our Vice President of Marketing and Communications. The level of this position will be either Senior Manager or Director, depending on experience. We support and reward creativity, performance, professional development and team involvement. SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in partnership with the VP of Marketing to shape ICE’s content strategy and set growth targets for ICE’s websites, blog and content distribution channels.
  • Write and edit content for ICE’s blog and two websites (ice.edu and recreational.ice.edu), ensuring pillar content that aligns with our marketing objectives is published at a consistent cadence.
  • Manage the content calendar, brainstorming, writing and editing stories, ensuring consistent brand voice and quality content across all platforms.
  • Create copy for web pages, emails, and various print assets.
  • Write scripts for promotional videos, organize video shoots, and oversee video production through publication.
  • Expand and nurture a team of freelance content creators and faculty contributors: Assign projects, manage timelines and edit submissions.
  • Collaborate with the PR team to strategize methods and tactics for amplifying ICE content and visibility.
  • Collaborate with our SEO agency to optimize content across ICE channels, including our websites, blog and YouTube channel.
  • Promote on-campus events organized by Career Services and Student Affairs.
  • Ensure all content adheres to brand standards, regulations and content platforms.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4+ years in content marketing, editorial or marketing communications for a food-centric brand or media outlet.
  • A deep understanding of the content development process and experience managing editorial for a variety of digital platforms.
  • Demonstrated interest in, and passion for, the world of food, chefs and restaurants.
  • Proficient at using content management systems (i.e., WordPress, Drupal, etc.) and project management systems (i.e., Asana, Basecamp, Trello, etc.)
  • Experience writing for SEO and syndication.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and social media marketing.
  • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience and job knowledge.
  • Graphic design skills and experience producing video are a strong plus.
  • High energy level and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Highest standards of ethics.

PAY: $80,000-$105,000

The position is on-site, full-time and requires flexibility to work evening and weekend shifts,
according to department rotation, which is set in advance.
