Allison Fishman earned a culinary degree because she wanted to be able to teach home cooks how to make beautiful, fuss-free food. Through her cookbook, You Can Trust a Skinny Cook (Wiley, 2011), her cooking school, The Wooden Spoon, her blog and website, her articles, and her shows Cook Yourself Thin on Lifetime, Home Made Simple on Discover, and Blue Ribbon Hunter on Yahoo! she now achieves that goal daily. After graduating from Cornell University, Fishman worked in marketing before following her love of food to ICE. Fishman externed at Jean-Georges and took an internship at Saveur. She went on to work with photographer James Peterson, Food Network, Martha Stewart and Cooking Light. She even teaches recreational classes at ICE. She also graduated with Master’s in food studies at New York University in December 2010.
