"I loved making cakes for people. I wanted to learn everything about pastry, cakes and chocolates, and how to turn it into a business."
A graduate of Vassar College with a degree in art, Elisa Strauss was working as a designer for Ralph Lauren when she started using cake as a creative medium. She attended the Institute of Culinary Education in 1999 and launched her own business, Confetti Cakes, in 2000. Her creations have appeared on the "Today Show," "Sex and the City" and "The View," and in Martha Stewart Weddings, InStyle, Marie Claire, Elle, Modern Bride, Bridal Guide and many more publications. She has appeared on "Food Network Challenge" and "30-Minute Meals With Rachael Ray." Elisa also hosts instructional videos on Craftsy.com.
“ICE has supplied me with constant support as I created my business from scratch," says Chef Elisa. "It has also been a great venue for hiring employees and has helped me stay in touch with other professionals in the industry. It was the perfect place for me to change careers from fashion to food.”
