Maya is a Julia Child Award-winning cookbook author and oversees the creation and curation of Maya Kaimal Fine Indian Foods. Raised in Boston by a South Indian father and a mother from New England, Maya grew up in a multi-cultural home filled with delicious and diverse foods. Her father’s Indian cooking combined with trips to visit family in India piqued her interest in that cuisine from a young age. She has written for Saveur, Food & Wine and Gourmet magazines, and published two cookbooks: "Curried Favors" (Abbeville Press) and "Savoring the Spice Coast of India" (HarperCollins). Maya has taught at World of Flavors conference at CIA Greystone, the French Culinary Institute and the Natural Gourmet Institute. She founded her namesake company with her husband Guy Lawson in Brooklyn in 2003 and lives in Upstate New York with her husband and daughters.
