Free Virtual Cooking Class

A recent survey commissioned by the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) and conducted online by The Harris Poll* found that one in four Americans (27%) are not confident searing. So, what is searing? This fundamental cooking technique uses high heat to brown the surface of food to add flavor.

Join us for a free virtual cooking class that will explain the proper steps for how to pan sear fish and shellfish. You’ll also learn the basics of how to fillet a fish as well as how to cook a fish and how to make a pan sauce.

Follow along with us on Wednesday, March 29, as Chef Sue Gonsalves prepares a Pan Seared Red Snapper with a White Wine Pan Sauce and Seared Scallops with Cherry Tomatoes & Thyme. When you register, you will receive a link to the recipe packet that includes a list of ingredients and equipment. For those who can’t attend live, a recording of the lesson will be available to registered participants following the class.

This is a great opportunity to perfect your searing skills and have direct access to a professional chef to ask questions while you cook!

*This survey was conducted online within the United States by The Harris Poll on behalf of the Institute of Culinary Education from December 15-19, 2022, among 2,065 adults ages 18+. The sampling precision of Harris online polls is measured by using a Bayesian credible interval. For this study, the sample data is accurate to within +/- 2.8 percentage points using a 95% confidence level.
