Guests toasting with cocktails at a mixology party at the Institute of Culinary Education

Mixology, Wine & Beer Events

Cocktails and Mixology

If you like to entertain and are thirsty to learn more about cocktail making and tasting, a mixology event at ICE is the perfect choice. Guests enjoy a 90-minute hands-on lesson that focuses on the shaking and mixing basics, from the importance of using fresh juices, to what tools are needed for a seamlessly stocked bar at home. Our expert mixologists will explain what makes the perfect cocktail, and when you’re ready to shake and stir, your group will have the opportunity to make and sample seven different cocktails. Non-alcoholic variations can be provided.

One of our most popular themes is the “Speakeasy,” featuring such Prohibition-era cocktails as the Sazerac and Ramos Gin Fizz. If you prefer more of an international flare, the "Around the World" package will take guests to the United Kingdom with a Pimm’s Cup and then on to Southeast Asia with the Singapore Sling. Finally, if it’s a classy, upscale experience you’re looking for, we suggest our “Formal Affair" package, with a swanky Vesper Martini and a festive Champagne Cocktail. Our pre-determined themes are just a starting point; menus can be customized to clients’ tastes.

Wine and Beer Events

ICE's two-hour wine, beer, whiskey or bourbon tasting events begin with a hearty cheese platter, served with an aperitif appropriate to your theme. Your instructor will then invite you to sit down for a tasting, focusing on how to evaluate for quality, taste and style. Seven varieties will be sampled and discussed. Sample topics can include everything from Italian Wines or Champagne, to Microbrewery Beers.

Some of ICE's most popular Wine & Beer Tasting themes include:

  • Wines Around the World
  • Old World vs New World
  • California Wines
  • Oregon Wines
  • Beer 101
  • Local Beers
  • Beers Around the World
