Biography

A Ukrainian immigrant, Chef Andrey Godzhik began bussing tables while studying English in the mid-1990s. He climbed the restaurant ranks as his English improved and his love for food and beverage developed. Andrey progressed from busboy and runner to bartender, server, supervising server, manager and ultimately general manager at The Pino Luongo Restaurants in New York City until 9/11 destroyed his place of business.

He moved to Los Angeles to work with Wolfgang Puck, where he held manager and general manager positions at two Michelin-starred Spago Beverly Hills, one Michelin-starred CUT and Sidebar, and Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air throughout a decade. In 2013, Andrey moved to the CUT location in Dubai as restaurant director, and in 2015 he returned to Beverly Hills to general manage ROKU Sunset.

With 20 years of management, costing, operations, and staff training and development experience, Chef Andrey opened a full-scale hospitality consulting service called Designed Hospitality Projects in 2016. He brings his strengths in uniting and motivating people, focus on community relationships and strong leadership to the Institute of Culinary Education's management program.

From his experience with Wolfgang Puck, Andrey says: "For Wolf, it is all about the guest. Listening, reacting fast enough and anticipating. He is also a strong believer in reinventing yourself even if you are already successful."

When he's not in restaurants, Chef Andrey's fishing and camping with his son, playing soccer or watching ice hockey.
