Join celebrity chef Daisy Martinez for a fun-filled Latin afternoon, as she demonstrates how to make several of her culturally-inspired Latino dishes—which you will also sample. A Brooklyn native born to mainland Puerto Rican parents, chef Martinez learned early on that the kitchen is the happiest room in the household. Before launching her own TV show, Daisy Cooks!, in 2005, she worked as a prep-kitchen chef on the set of PBS's “Lidia's Italian-American Kitchen”, a private chef in New York City, and as the owner of a small catering business, The Passionate Palate. The show’s companion cookbook, “Daisy Cooks! Latin Flavors that Will Rock Your World”, was nominated for an award by the International Association of Culinary Professionals and won the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards’ Best Latino Cuisine Cookbook in the World. Chef Martinez’s show, “Viva Daisy!”, debuted on the Food Network in January 2009, and her most recent cookbooks, “Daisy: Morning, Noon and Night” and “Daisy’s Holiday Cooking” were released in 2010 in both English and Spanish. Daisy just launched her first show in Spanish, “BORICUAS!”, on the Fox Mundo Network, Utilisima, which brought the beautiful cuisine of Puerto Rico to light.
