Italy: A Culinary Immersion

Join ICE Chef-Instructor Gerri Sarnataro, owner of Cucina Della Terra cooking school in Umbria, for a truly authentic culinary experience. You will spend 9 days/8 nights exploring the culinary treasures of Tuscany and Umbria, enjoying food, wine, culture and cooking as you visit a region with three World Heritage sites.

This trip features an extraordinary experience—the olive harvest—where you’ll pick them and be part of the olive oil production. Throughout the week you’ll meander through different Etruscan and Roman towns, purchase foods from the outdoor markets, participate in a truffle hunting adventure, visit a winery for a special wine tasting of the delicious Vin Nobile di Montepulciano, Rosso di Montepulciano and Passito, and learn about the production of authentic raw milk pecorino, ricotta & yoghurt at a local sheep farm.

Each trip includes six towns & cities from among the many in our surrounding area: Perugia, Siena, Orvieto, Montepulciano, Montefalco, Bevagna, Cortona, Castiglione del Lago, Pienza, or Arezzo. Every night you’ll participate in hands-on cooking classes where you will learn fundamental techniques to Italian cuisine.
