Thrillist - Friendsgiving, Redefined: Pair Your Cocktails With Your Food

Director of Beverage Studies Anthony Caporole shared some menu-inspired cocktail recipes with Thrillist.com. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Anthony says the flavors of a Samuels can’t be beat with your turkey, gravy, and cranberry sauce. Similar to a Manhattan, a Samuels uses Maker’s Mark, amaretto, and cranberry juice. “The cranberry juice paired with the cranberry in the meal will be delicious.”

For dessert, try Anthony's Bourbon Apple Spice Martini; a simple mix of bourbon, apple cider, and cinnamon. The spices fit with the flavors of autumn baked goods and Thanksgiving pies (apple, pumpkin, pecan, etc.). “Pro tip: Keep this on the stove simmering through the evening and it’ll flavor the air in the whole house with a delicious smell,” he says. “When it’s time to serve, just add a shot of the alcohol to a punch cup and ladle it out with dessert.” But don’t add the alcohol before, as it’ll burn right off on the stove.
