THE INSTITUTE OF CULINARY EDUCATION ANNOUNCES HISTORIC NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
ICE giving away more than $140,000 in culinary and hospitality scholarships in
#CulinaryVoice Scholarship Challenge

NEW YORK (February 9, 2015) – The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) today announces the launch of its first-ever #CulinaryVoice Scholarship Challenge. ICE is giving away eight scholarships—totaling more than $140,000—in its search for the next generation of culinary talent. ICE alumni and chefs Eden Grinshpan, Miguel Trinidad, Ashley Merriman and Anthony Ricco appear in a video series to inspire the nation to get creative and enter the scholarship challenge. America will vote for the finalists and the winners will be chosen by a select panel of ICE industry experts.

Entrants upload an original one-minute video to ice.edu/culinaryvoice demonstrating their creativity, passion for food, service or entrepreneurial flair. In the video, contestants should explain who they are, what they hope to achieve in the culinary or hospitality industries and why they deserve one of eight scholarships and the chance to study at the nation’s newest, state-of-the-art center for culinary education (opening Winter 2015 in Lower Manhattan).

“This scholarship program coincides with ICE’s 40th anniversary and is consistent with the school’s mission to enable the creativity of each individual, empowering them to find rewarding careers in the culinary and hospitality sectors,” said Rick Smilow, ICE’s president. “We’ve helped thousands of ICE alumni find their culinary voice, and with the public’s help, we’re now looking to recognize and reward the eight talented and charismatic individuals whose goal is to excel in the culinary, pastry and hospitality arenas.”

The top 50 #CulinaryVoice Scholarship Challenge finalists will be determined by public vote, and for every vote, ICE will make a donation to No Kid Hungry to help end childhood hunger in America. One full scholarship and one partial scholarship will be awarded for each of ICE’s four award-winning career training programs: Culinary Arts, Pastry & Baking Arts, Culinary Management and Hospitality Management.

Key Dates:
• February 9: Entries Open
• March 1: Voting Opens (new entries are still accepted during voting)
• March 28: Entries and Voting Close
• April 3: Winners announced

“ICE was instrumental in helping me refine my culinary technique and exposed me to a range of international ingredients and cuisines,” said Miguel Trinidad, ICE alumnus and owner of Manhattan’s trend-setting Filipino eateries Jeepney and Maharlika. “I found my culinary voice at ICE and I’m honored to help inspire future ICE students to share their creativity and find their future in food.”
